Crime:

Punishment:
A punishment is a sanction imposed by the State or a legitimate authority to punish a crime or offense.
Types of Punishment:
1. Corporal Punishment: Sanctions that physically affect the offender. Example: Death penalty, physical punishment.
2. Deprivation of Liberty: Sanctions that restrict the offender's freedom. Example: Imprisonment, house arrest.
3. Pecuniary Punishment: Sanctions that involve paying a fine or compensation. Example: Fines, restitution to the victim.
Examples of Punishment:
1. A man is sentenced to 5 years in prison for aggravated robbery.
2. A company is fined $1 million for environmental pollution.
3. A driver's license is suspended for 6 months for driving under the influence of alcohol.
